The community of La Jolla Shores is one of the oldest and most prominent that La Jolla has to offer. First settled in the early 1900′s, this area features sprawling custom homes, quaint beach cottages, and luxury condominiums with superb views of the Pacific Ocean and La Jolla Cove.
The community of La Jolla Shores is located in the northern part of La Jolla above the mile long crescent of beach that makes up Scripps beach and La Jolla Shores. As one of the calmest and flattest beach areas in La Jolla, The Shores is a favored hangout for swimmers, sunbathers, and surfers.
The homes that make up the community of La Jolla Shores are primarily custom homes and beach cottages, ranging in size from a quarter of an acre up to an acre. There are also several luxury condominium developments – including a high rise – that are slightly more affordable. Prices tend to depend upon the location and size of the home, with homes on the beach in the 6-7 million dollar range and homes on the hill in the 3-4 million dollar range.
Homes in this area are within walking distance to the beach, boutique shopping, restaurants and the famed La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. Golf enthusiasts can drive to Torrey Pines Golf Course, the home of the PGA Buick Invitational, in less than five minutes.
