Recycle Your La Jolla Home Holiday Tree
December 31, 2012 by Marti Gellens · Leave a Comment
La Jolla home owners can once again recycle their Christmas trees easily. The annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program will be collecting trees through January 23rd, as it has been doing for the last 39 years! Trees are converted into compost, bark, wood chips and mulch, adding longevity to local landfills. Prepared trees can be placed outside La Jolla homes in whole or cut into pieces if you have automated greenery containers at your La Jolla home. Residents also have the option of bringing their trees and shrubs to sixteen recycling centers during day light hours. Due to the chemicals used in processing, flocked trees can not be recycled. All decorations, including tinsel, metal ornaments and stands need to be removed from trees before collection, as well.
